“Why I live at Talking Rock”
People move to Talking Rock for many reasons— sometimes it’s the weather, Prescott’s small town charm, first rate golf experience, or the signature Symmetry brand welcoming culture. For Rose Kauffman and her husband Charlie, two-year residents of Talking Rock, it was all of the above!
Rose and Charlie moved from Bend, Oregon after looking for a place with less snow to settle down. Rose shared a few reasons she’s loving their new home and community at Talking Rock.
“Charlie and I are both avid golfers, but we hadn’t originally planned to retire in a golf community,” she explained. However, when they found the retirement home of their dreams within Talking Rock, they were delighted they could enjoy the game they loved essentially year-round, just steps from their dream home. They now enjoy a casual or competitive round with friends from Talking Rock anytime they’d like, or even host friends from out of town.
In fact Rose and Charlie’s new favorite activity is taking guests to enjoy nine holes of putting at the newly opened Silent Moon Park. “It’s such a great spot for friends just learning how to play, where we can all be together and have a casual and enjoyable afternoon.”
In addition to golf, hiking, tennis, swimming, the fitness center and other activities onsite, Rose shared that one aspect that makes Talking Rock stand out is the people who live here.
“The first year we moved to Talking Rock I decided to host a Kentucky Derby party. Before even looking at a roster I had a list of 80 people I wanted to invite,” she said. “This was such a pleasant surprise, as I could not recall another time in my life where I could so quickly create a list of so many neighbors I’d love to welcome into my home.”
Rose also shared a poignant memory of the true character of the Talking Rock community. When her husband faced a serious medical challenge, she was overwhelmed with the kindness, compassion and service shared. Her many neighbors and friends, plus the team at Talking Rock offered meaningful help during the difficult situation. Their time and consideration, when she and Charlie needed it most, is something she is incredibly grateful for and will never forget.
