Ready to Ride: Talking Rock UTV Club Trip
The Talking Rock UTV Club kicks off the 2020 season on February 18–19 with a trek on the trails around Wickenburg, 60 miles south of Prescott. With adrenaline-pumping riding and access to a wide variety of terrain and wildlife viewing, it promises to be another excellent opportunity for outdoor adventure and camaraderie with fellow club members.
After trailering to Wickenburg, the outing includes three planned rides:
- Wickenburg Mountain: This 60-mile loop includes great mountain views in a truly remote setting. Along the way, we’ll visit Isaac Bradshaw’s grave and the cabin ruins at Copperopolis Townsite.
- Box Canyon at Hassayampa River: The 23-mile out-and-back trail follows the Hassayampa River, most often shallow water or dry river beds – with the payoff of tall, beautiful red-rock canyon walls.
- Vulture Mine: Meandering across the desert and low foothills, this trail system passes several mines and a roofless stone cabin. The terrain includes hard-packed dirt and gravel with rocky sections, with soft sand in riverbeds.
The host hotel will be the Best Western Rancho Grande in Wickenburg. Club members are responsible for making their own reservations for the nights of Feb. 18 and 19: 928.684.5445.
