Prescott’s Top Four Restaurants

Looking for a special spot to celebrate an anniversary, birthday, or the weekend? We’ve got the top four spots in and around Prescott sure to deliver a delicious and memorable dinner for you. Our thanks to Director of Food and Beverage, Chris Heinrich, recommending the top three. All Prescott restaurants are about 30 minutes from Talking Rock.

El Gato Azul

What’s better than Southwest-inspired tapas and cuisine? Guests can dine on the covered outdoor patio, creekside or at the bar with their group of regulars. Thrillist.com put El Gato Azul on their list of 11 best restaurants in Arizona, saying, “it has a quaint and quirky, yet inviting atmosphere that’s perfect for casual dining, and the extensive menu and blend of different styles of food is especially appealing.”

There’s something for everyone, from steak and seafood, to vegetarian and vegan dishes. All dishes are prepared fresh daily, in house, with locally sourced Ingredients and flavors.

Delicious offerings such as black bean cakes, sherry sautéed mushrooms with garlic, shrimp corn dogs and chicken satay keep customers coming back for more. Salads, sandwiches and a pleasing dinner menu provides choices that range from Southwest Stir-fry to Chipotle BBQ Ribs to Sticky Steak Skewers.

There’s live music as well.

Where: 316 W. Goodwin St.  Prescott. Phone: 928-445.4070.
Cost: Main dishes are in the $11 to $21 range.

Prescott Station

This family owned-and-operated dining spot features views of Thumb Butte and downtown Prescott from the scenic patio and serves a large assortment of dishes influenced by the Southwest. Choose a cozy booth indoors, or lounge in the energized bar area. Stop in for their amazing brunch selection on Sundays.

There are so many tempting dishes, it’s hard to choose. Popular items include the elk fajitas and the prime rib. Featured items include the savory Hunan-style short rib braised in a hoisin sauce; beef stroganoff with fresh mushrooms and fettucine folded into a beef and sour cream sauce; baby back ribs with blackberry sauce (yum!); and buffalo meatloaf with a mushroom glacé.

The Arizona-raised steaks and chops are accompanied with fantastic side dishes, (grilled squash, au gratin potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, orzo risotto, smoky pasta or chorizo grits). Also tasty are their global pasta and specialty dishes like Hawaiian fish fillets, clam and mussel linguine, green thai’d noodles with chicken or shrimp, plus oysters, clams, and tapas are temping as well. No shortage of beverages, as the Bev Heaven menu features more than 250 highly rated wines and 100 unique beer selections.

Where: 200 E Gurley St. Prescott. Phone: 928-778-0133.

Cost: Wide range of prices, main dishes from $13 -$48.

Papa’s Italian Restaurant

Papa’s Italian Restaurant serves a wide variety of pasta dishes passed down through generations that are sure to satisfy all palates. The family-owned business has served up great food and fun for their valued guests (including singer Tony Bennett, whose photo hangs on their wall) for 25 years in Prescott.

Enjoy pasta galore, with dishes such as Pasta Marinara, Pasta with Meat Sauce Fettuccine Alfredo and more. Or, treat yourself to Papa’s Seafood with Pasta, including Shrimp Scampi, Mussels Italiano with Pasta, or Linguini in Clam Sauce. Other tasty specialties include Chicken Parmesan, Papa’s Meat Lasagna and Portabella Mushroom Stuffed Ravioli. Perfect pizzas are on the menu as well and there’s a gluten-free choice.

Enjoy a fine Italian wine with your meal from an eclectic wine list that features delicious wines from various regions of Italy as well as unique finds from the globe.

The staff is as warm as the food–expect a hearty welcome from everyone the moment you walk in the door.

Cost: Main dishes are in the $10-$15 range.

Morgan’s Bar and Grill

Morgan’s Bar and Grill at Talking Rock offers one-of-a-kind seasonal menus featuring a variety of tantalizing entrées made from the freshest ingredients. The food is fantastic, the staff is outstanding, and the drinks keep flowing. Specials include lobster rolls, calamari steak and scrumptious BBQ selections. We like the chicken cordon bleu and the blackened salmon, but everything offered on the ever-evolving menu is amazing.

Supporting the great food is a full-service bar and an award-winning wine program. Try a Bacon Bloody Mary to begin your day or a fine wine to accompany your meal. Morgan’s is a fantastic place to meet up with friends, have a private dinner or celebrate life in one of the most gorgeous places on earth.
