Join Us for Mahjong
A tile-based game that dates back more than 2,000 years in China, Mahjong first gained popularity in the United States in the 1920s. Similar to the card game rummy, Mahjong demands a blend of skill and strategy – and some luck! Unlike many leisure games that pit players against one another, Mahjong requires cooperation and fosters interaction between people. (Fun fact: The game’s name derives from the Chinese word for sparrow, thanks to the clicking of tiles having a similar sound to the chattering of sparrows.)
Whether you’re an experienced player, just starting out, or somewhere in between, the Talking Rock Mahjong group is the perfect way to enjoy spirited and fun game play with fellow members. The group meets every Wednesday from 12-4 pm in the Windmill Room.
