Community Endures at Talking Rock

Neighborhoods have changed over time. Not necessarily the look, but the feel.

Where it used to be common practice to gather with those who live nearby and create a village of support, it’s more common now to have no idea who lives next door. Statistics from Pew Research Center indicate just 57% of Americans know “some” of their neighbors.

Talking Rock, a private community in Prescott, Arizona, turns that trend on its head. Here, against a backdrop of protected open space and a rugged, elevated landscape, neighbors gather. They share stories, they visit at social events, they partner for golf and pickleball tournaments and they find comfort in a like-minded approach to living.

At Talking Rock, residents foster a sense of community that harkens to decades gone by, where neighbors wave and pause to make time for the valued connections that could take hold if given the opportunity. Maybe it’s Talking Rock’s unique energy, or the way times feels somehow different in a community that prioritizes the experience of every individual, or the intentional accessibility of amenities that create space for meaningful interactions among neighbors.

Here, everyone is a neighbor, even if they’re not next door or on the same street. A common thread of connection courses through the people who stop in for coffee at Coop’s, the foursome embarking on a friendly afternoon scramble on Talking Rock’s championship golf course and the friends using the early morning light to illuminate a walk with their dogs.

They’ve chosen Talking Rock for a reason, and they’re living a shared experience with those around them, appreciating an uncommon sense of community that is hard to find anywhere else.
